I recently had an opportunity to meet Dr. Devi Shetty, a cardiac surgeon and the founder of the Narayana Hrudayalaya Health City in Bangalore, India. There are not enough adjectives to describe Dr. Devi Shetty who is a man of many talents. Apart from being a remarkable cardiac surgeon, he is a health care visionary, an innovator, an entrepreneur, a role model to aspiring cardiac surgeons and a global figure. Dr. Shetty is accredited with pioneering quality medical care at affordable prices by achieving economies of scale. He was awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan, third highest civilian award in India for his contribution to the field of affordable healthcare. (Source: Wikipedia) You can’t but feel overwhelming inspiration as you enter the Narayana Hrudayalaya campus. I was even more amazed when I experienced his humility and conviction for patient care myself. Here are some excerpts of my conversation with Dr. Devi Shetty.
